Canadian Chat reviews of Canada Directorate of Consumer Protection
The Directorate of Consumer Protection is available to help you understand the laws of Ontario on consumer protection, refer you to appropriate information and act as mediator to resolve written complaints between consumers and businesses.
Inspection, investigation and enforcement
We also have inspectors who visit businesses to help them meet consumer law in areas such as cemeteries, repair of motor vehicles, fitness centers and health and agencies.
If violations of laws relating to consumer protection are detected, we perform an investigation. Violators may be prosecuted and we are trying to compensate consumers in the courts.
